FOR THOSE PLANNING TO JOIN THE OW BOYS SWIM & DIVE TEAM:
Below is an idea of what the first two weeks of practice will look like:
*Subject to change based on KSHSAA and Olathe District guidelines.
A couple of reminders:
There are no tryouts for swim and dive. If you come out, you are given a spot on the team. Once you are on the team, there are strict expectations for you to follow. Unexcused absences from practice/competitions or receiving behavior/academic concerns at school can forfeit your student-athlete’s right to be on the team.
Make sure you get a sports physical on file with the athletics office (senior office) before November 16th. If you played a fall sport, you are good here.
Please make sure all athletes and parents/guardians are planning to attend the team meeting/parent meeting on November 11th. A Zoom link will be sent out to both the athlete’s and parent/guardian’s email address as provided on Student VUE.
Your swimmer will need a competition swim suit (jammer or brief), competition goggles (such as Speedo Vanquisher), towel, and a water bottle. It might be a good idea to start shopping for deals now. These can be bought at any sporting goods store or found on most online options (some of the best deals can be found on Amazon).
Varsity Athletes: Bring a pair of tennis shoes & clothing for dryland every M-F. You will change at OW into your practice suit before driving over to MT for in-water practice. I will let you know if you are considered a Varsity Athlete prior to start of season!
All newcomers to the team will be considered JV unless told otherwise. This is subject to change as the season progresses.
As I find out more information about COVID, I will email and share with you-all. Just be prepared to bring a plastic Ziploc bag with your name written in permanent ink for your mask on the first day of practice.
You can email Head Coach, Courtney Frets, with any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
